About the Event

Join local historian Robin Colyer for a guided walk through Cliftonville, uncovering stories from Arnold Schwartzman’s past. In collaboration with The Margate Civic Society, this walk is part of a series of events supporting a retrospective of Arnold's work that will complete with an exhibition at The Margate School, of which he is patron, in May launching the Schwartzman Gallery. Experience Margate in the 1930s through the stories and places that influenced the creative life of designer, Oscar winning filmmaker and author Arnold Schwartzman OBE. From the famous TS Eliot mural in Margate train station, to Frank Hovaths 'Junk Shop', now Community Pharmacy to Lovely's art suppliers on Northdown road and more you will encounter the town through Arnold's fond memories and experiences of growing up here and the miraculous encounters that took him all the way from Margate to LA where he now lives.
