In this workshop, you will explore some of the basics of analogue photography in a creative and fun way. Using recycled materials you will start by making your own DIY pinhole camera (or several). You will then have time to expose a few shots before processing and printing the black-and-white images in the darkroom.
This workshop is a great introduction to the darkroom and photographic process.
Here's what you'll learn:
- Basic principles of camera and lens function
- Building your camera
- Developing your paper negative
- Checking for exposure
- Making a contact print
No previous experience in analogue photography is required and photographic paper and chemistry are provided.

About the tutor:
Dominic Rose is TMS Analogue Photography Coordinator and a multi-disciplinary artist living in Margate. Using Photography and a range of found materials, he focuses on the interaction between humans and the environment, order and chaos, the sublime and the mundane. Particularly interested in the politics around resources and consumerism, his work illustrates the tension between our growing demand for resources and the interplay with the natural world.
