About the Event

As Arnold famously said,"The Pharmacy Gallery, formerly Dr. Frank Horvath’s 'Junk Shop,' was where, as an inspired art student, I was able to buy, for as little as sixpence, rare bound books, ephemera, vintage local photographs, and Margate souvenirs."

We’re excited to welcome Paul Rennie, one of the leading authorities on the historical development of graphic design in Britain. Alongside his academic expertise, Paul is an avid collector of vintage posters and curator of Rennies Seaside Modern Gallery in Folkestone, which he runs with his wife, Karen. In this engaging talk, Paul will take us on a journey through the evolution of the poster in communication design—those first images created to be seen from a distance. He’ll explore the dynamic range of Schwartzman’s designs, from the 1984 Olympics to the 70th Anniversary of the Oscars, offering a fascinating insight into the history of design in the public eye.
