About the Event

The Artech Show is the cumulative findings from the projects that the three residents have explored whilst enquiring into the dynamic relationships between Art, Technology, Society, Nature.

Opening night on Friday 18, 6—9pm — everyone is invited, please RSVP if you would like to join us!

Balint Bolygo—EVENT HORIZON

'Event Horizon’ is described as the point of no return on the edge of a Black Hole past this point everything disappears and is sucked into the vacuum of space time. Back on our tiny planet we are also experiencing our very own man made ‘event horizon’ - its effects are dislocating, unfamiliar, and uncertain.

This light installation will create an unfamiliar environment from the every day space of The Margate School, it tests our senses and our ability to fathom the unexpected and uncertain.

MEM by Benny Bowls

A multi media installation.

Dr Edward Kelly—CHIMERAS

Chimeras is a multi-channel sound installation that responds to the movement of visitors by playing back, and hybridising sonic elements recorded in the building where The Margate School is based.

The title comes from a mythical beast of ancient Greece, with three heads - of a lion, a goat and a snake. In this piece, hybrid and recorded sounds are projected on four speaker systems in response to sensors, which pick up the movement of people in the space of the installation.

Please note: This show will include flashing lights and lasers.

The Artech Show will run 18—21 March, 10am—4pm with the Private View on Friday 18, 6—9pm — everyone is invited, please RSVP if you would like to join us!
