UK Creative Festival
Last week, we were invited to speak at the UK Creative Festival in Dreamland, Margate with our studio holders, graduates and freelancers.
We had the opportunity to discuss perspectives on sustainable fashion with Georgie — TMS studio holder, founder of Peony Vintage, co-founder of A Virtual Vintage Market and the 033 Store, alongside Lo Lo No — artist/curator of Double Sided Sticky Tape, Margate Pride and graduate from our MA in Fine Art.
We also discussed the highs, lows and freelance paths into the design industry with Matthew Murphy — TMS studio holder, photographer and filmmaker, alongside Beckyismyname — commercial graphic designer, illustrator and Visual Communication course coordinator.
At The Margate School, we are rooted in our community; we reach out through events, workshops, talks and exhibitions and much of our provision is subsidised in support of Margate and its diverse creative and wider communities.
Our studios represent an extension of our teaching, providing not only space for growing businesses, but technical support and advice, in tandem with our growing technical and prototyping facilities; this type of supported workspace is unique in Thanet.
